Herd health visits are typically planned in advance on a monthly or bi-weekly schedule. During these visits the veterinarian reviews vaccination protocols, treatment protocols, and reproductive plans. The veterinarian will ultrasound animals for pregnancy, and examine any sick or injured animals. This is also a time when clients can bring up any ongoing issues or future goals that they would like the veterinarian to help with and together a plan can be designed and instituted.
For smaller farms herd health calls may only be once or twice yearly.
Poultry health visits typically involve creating and delivering a vaccination schedule which allows the veterinarian to monitor flock health at the time of vaccination.
