Rabies

Rabies if a fatal viral disease of mammals transmitted by

bites or contact with saliva from an infected animal.  In

Nova Scotia the main carrier of rabies is the bat.

Prevention of rabies in cats, dogs and livestock can be very effective with a vaccine.  If your pets travel with you to areas where rabies is more prevalent then we strongly encourage you to vaccinate against this disease. If you travel internationally, then most countries require proof of rabies vaccine for pets.
