Dr. George West, DVM

Dr. West grew up on a mixed farm of dairy, beef, draught

horses and orchard, in Grafton, NS.  After high school, he

attended Acadia University for one year, the Nova Scotia

Agriculture College for two years and then on to the Ontario

Veterinary College for four years to complete his Doctor of

Veterinary Medicine.  On graduation in 1978, he returned to

Kentville, NS to practice with Cornwallis Veterinarians Ltd.

In 1981 Dr. West became a partner in the company and has practiced there ever since. Starting off as a mixed animal practitioner, he has moved to doing predominantly companion animal medicine and surgery. Dr. West is a member of the Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association, Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and served a term on council and as president of the Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association.  He also served on the Atlantic Veterinary College Advisory Council when the college was in its planning and construction stages. George lives on a small farm where, along with his wife, have raised four children.  Over the past 20+ years they also raised cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, turkeys, chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs.  Having been a 4-H member himself, he has been a 4-H parent and project leader for many years while the children were active 4-H members.
